We were honored when a longtime client invited us to collaborate on a new project at their family’s lake house retreat. With the children now grown and scattered across colleges and careers, the family envisioned a place where everyone could come together again as an anchor between their various homes.
This modern lake house sits on the shores of Lake Keowee, a place deeply familiar to our designer, Brandon, who spent his own summers there with family. He understood not only the landscape but also the kind of memories that unfold by the water. After Talli introduced our clients to him, Brandon took the lead in shaping the interior—selecting furniture, artwork, and décor that would bring warmth and personality to the contemporary architecture.
Functionality was essential for a lakeside home. Each piece needed to be durable, stain-resistant, and welcoming enough to host gatherings across multiple generations. The color palette grew from our clients’ love of soft blues and greens, as well as artwork they had already chosen for the Great Room. Because the lake takes on a deep, luminous green from the windows, we wove those tones throughout the home to create a cohesive, calming flow.
Outdoor living is just as important as the interior in a lake house. With spaces for dining, enjoying the view, sitting fireside, sunning, or curling up with a book, these areas had to be as comfortable and low-maintenance as they were beautiful. We furnished the screened porch and patios with durable, inviting pieces designed for effortless use from season to season.
Brandon is skilled at creating atmospheres that invite connection and celebration, and this project was no exception. He crafted a home where modern design meets relaxed lakeside living—where every space encourages gathering, unwinding, and making memories that will carry the family into the next generation.
