For those who knew us as Allard + Roberts Interior Design,
we’d like to formally welcome you to our next chapter as…

Same trusted team – with a new name
that reflects our collaborative spirit.

Every home we’ve touched, every craftsman we’ve partnered with, and every client who’s trusted us along the way.
They’re all part of the story that brought us here.
After more than 15 years designing homes across the Carolinas, this new chapter is a long held vision, finally realized.
Our name may be new, but our roots run deep — in collaboration, craftsmanship, and
our dear community both here in Asheville and throughout Western North Carolina.
This is where it all began. And it’s where our story continues.

From a Partnership to a Collective
As our projects grew, so did our circle.
We work alongside architects and builders who care about the details, artisans who craft by hand, and clients who want homes that mean something.
Over time, it became clear that this wasn’t just a design firm anymore. It was a collective of people bound by shared values:
Love for craft, devotion to people, and care that lasts long after the project is complete.
Our team expanded, our work earned recognition, and our studio became a place where creativity and collaboration thrived side by side. We mentored new designers, juggled motherhood and meetings, and kept showing up for each other, for our clients, and for the community we love.
Like the fern in our mark (one of the oldest plants on Earth), we’ve grown with resilience, rooted in care and connection. And our story keeps unfolding.
Behind the Design
One of the oldest plants on earth, the fern is resilient and resourceful. A long-time symbol of new beginnings, family, and protection, a variety of wildlife seek shelter and fruitful foraging beneath its fronds. Beyond microhabitats, this north-facing plant offers shade, erosion control, chemical sequestration, air filtration, fiber for crafts and building materials, pigments for natural dyes, and medicine. Architectural in design, the fern is both complex and simple, delicate and durable, etheral and grounded. It’s generous and modest.

Our Story
Through the Years
1998 – 2008
Talli earns her BFA in Interior Design and and spends a decade working with designers and furniture showrooms across Sanibel Island, Naples, Hendersonville, and Asheville, honing both her eye for design and strength in project management.
2008 – 2009
Talli and Sharon meet while working at Four Corners Home in Asheville. When a showhouse project lands Talli on the cover of WNC Magazine, she finds the courage to start her own design firm – even as the housing market collapses. She keeps going, knowing that when the market rebounds, she’ll be ready

2009
Humble beginnings in a basement home office in North Asheville! On her first day open Talli receives her very first project: The Bower House.
This marks the first collaborations between Four Corners Home and Talli Roberts Interior Design. Talli managed design and project oversight; Sharon helped with furniture selections for a Lake Lure renovation later published in Carolina Home + Garden Magazine.

2010
Talli takes on the Brevard Showhouse, self-funding the project and borrowing furniture, art, and rugs from local sources. It’s published – giving her the firm’s first professional photography and press.
That same year, Sharon officially joins as partner, and Allard + Roberts opens its doors on W. Walnut Street in downtown Asheville.

2013
Talli becomes a mother and learns to balance business ownership and partnership with parenthood. She begins to think more about how to structure work to balance with home life.

2010 – 2019
Over the next decade, Talli and Sharon grow from a team of three to six – building lasting relationships with local and regional furniture makers, artists, artisans, architects, builders, and trades. In 2015, Carolina Home + Garden names Talli and Sharon the “Dream Team.”
“We’re a team,” says Talli, “but the larger team is us, the architect, the builder, and of course the client.”

2017
A+R needs more room and more parking and relocates into their first office on Charlotte Street, while continuing their growth.

2019
A photo of an A+R bathroom design goes viral, landing a HOME Magazine cover and a design award.

2020
Sharon retires, and Talli buys her out – officially rebranding to A+R.

2021
Sarah joins as Design Assistant while completing her design degree. The office gets a facelift, and A+R introduces its signature blue circle logo.

2022
A+R completes a Lake Lure renovation that places in a Wolf/SubZero Design Competition – another award-winning milestone. Sarah experiences a milestone year with her transition into a Designer role and becoming a mother.

2023
Talli celebrates 25 years in the interior design industry.
Later that year, she’s diagnosed with breast cancer, and the team rallies around her with love and support through treatment and recovery.

2024
Hurricane Helene hits WNC and the physical office is closed for a month until utilities are restored. Sarah is diagnosed with breast cancer, and the team rallies together again to support her through treatment!

2025
With both Talli and Sarah healthy again, Sarah becomes Vice President of A+R.

NOW
Together they move into a larger showroom and office space further up Charlotte Street and launch a full rebrand to reflect their evolution and expanded vision.
It’s the realization of a long-held dream – finally brought to life after 25+ years in the industry.
